5 Signs It May Be Time to Rekey Your Home

Rekeying changes the internal configuration of a compatible lock so the old key no longer works. It can be useful when the hardware is still in good condition but you want better control over access.

1. You Recently Moved

Previous owners, tenants, contractors, or service providers may still have copies of old keys.

2. A Key Was Lost or Stolen

If you cannot account for a key, rekeying can prevent that missing key from working.

3. Too Many Copies Are in Circulation

Over time, keys may be duplicated for relatives, employees, cleaners, or contractors.

4. You Want One Key for Multiple Compatible Locks

In some cases, several compatible locks can be keyed alike.

5. You Changed Tenants or Staff

Rekeying is commonly used when authorized access changes.
